With Children in Mind, which eases the stress of separation on children, is part of the Quality Time Project subsidised by Mallow District Court.

The project is one of a broad range of child-welfare and family projects facilitated by the Cloyne Dioceses Youth Service.

Co-ordinator and play therapist, Moira Sloane, devised Quality Time after seeing an increase in the number of referrals of children who had emotional difficulties because of parental separation.

The project helps children to have a positive relationship with their parents through mentoring. It also includes a monitored, supervised access service.

With Children in Mind comprises six, weekly sessions of two hours each. “During the sessions, we will encourage parents to reflect on the challenges and emotional journey of their separation”, Moira says.

With Children in Mind will run at the Gouldshill Community Centre from Thursday, September 29, from 10am-noon, or Thursdays, from 7pm to 9pm.

Places are decided through prior consultation. Late enrolments join a waiting list for subsequent courses.

Single parents accepted.

Registration: €50.
