Supervalu points the finger at itself after recipe typo

You have got to hand it to Supervalu, they could never be accused of failing to have a finger on the pulse of the nation’s cookery — or in one case, in it.

The retailer’s recipe leaflets, widely available in stores across the country, often give finger-licking suggestions for meals which will appeal to the whole family.

However, those laying out one recipe for a “healthy midweek meal” on one of the most recent recipe cards clearly didn’t knuckle down and check the print carefully.

As a result the MassaMAN curry appeared to have more man than it should have — advising customers to include a half-thumb sized piece of fresh finger.

Ironically the recipe is for a vegetarian curry.

“We would like to apologise for our little human error on our most recent recipe leaflets in store,” it wrote on its Facebook page on Thursday afternoon.

“We made a tiny mistake on The Happy Pear’s Massaman Curry recipe.

“We seriously do not condone putting a half thumb-sized piece of fresh finger, peeled and finely sliced into your dish!

“We of course meant ginger! We also highly recommend you are careful when slicing and dicing your ingredients — so watch your fingers please!”

It then attached a corrected version of the recipe. According to Supervalu, when the dish is cooked without errant digits, it is “a fresh, quick, tasty dinner that’s a real crowd pleaser”. Posters took to social media to give the gaffe a thumbs up on the hilarity front.

“I don’t want to point the finger but hey I can’t,” wrote one. “Too late! I am missing a digit! But the curry was finger licking good!” joked another
