Gardaí are investigating the theft of aviation fuel from Dublin Airport.

The fuel was drained from an Aer Lingus aircraft that was undergoing maintenance in a hanger in December.

Gardaí say it is possible those responsible brought the fuel home to heat their houses.

Two airport staff members are under internal investigation for alleged wrongdoing.

No arrests have been made.
