Little Island Business Association to create ‘flexible’ spaces for new firms
The business association said it is planning ahead to create flexible workspaces for new and small established companies in what is regarded as one of the country’s industrial powerhouses.
Little Island Business Association (LIBA) is planning a three-phase development in Little Island — on the eastern outskirts of Cork City — the first phase of which will open on July 1.
LIBA chief executive Michael Mulcahy said the new ‘Little Island Business Centre’ will be specifically designed to cater for flexible workspaces.
“At its peak we hope it will have facilities for up to 50 separate businesses,” said Mr Mulcahy.
“It is clear to us that in the past year the interest in flexible work spaces in Cork has risen sharply and the number of Dublin, Galway, London and other national and international based businesses looking for a base in Cork without the fixed costs associated with office leases and utility costs is on the rise.”
The LIBA Business Centre model is based on offering a desk and cubicle office within a shared office environment with full office facilities provided.
Mr Mulchay said parking and meeting rooms will also be made available to occupants at exceptionally competitive prices.
“We expect to attract a wide variety of business users from local small businesses, start-ups, remote workers to large corporate customers, both national and international, who want to open satellite offices in Cork’s most vibrant business location,” Mr Mulcahy added.
He said that as well as offering a “fixed-price solution” for a new Cork office base for businesses, they will also offer all clients a complimentary membership of LIBA.
At present, there are around 1,000 businesses of operating in the Little Island area.
