Kerry's diocesan website getting church’s message across

The Diocese of Kerry has said a website it has established is one of key means of getting the Church’s message across in the Kingdom — and shows how the the internet can be “a gift from God”.

Kerry's diocesan website getting church’s message across

Most of the Kerry diocese’s parishes now upload their parish newsletter on to the site and a re-design this weekend — with a logo incorporating the Kerry colours — has made it easier to access www.dioceseofkerry.ie from phones and tablets.

“The website is a major facility of the Diocese of Kerry in communicating and conveying information between all the people of the diocese and beyond,” said a statement on behalf of the diocese.

“There are 53 parishes in the diocese and 35 of these are uploading their parish newsletter weekly to the site. This, therefore is a busy site, updated daily with diocesan news, church news and parish news.”

The colours and design of the new site — green gold, blue, and white — are linked to the new diocesan motto, ‘Be Christ’s Joy’.

The website allows people to find out about their parish’s mass times, priests, and local news and events such as births, deaths and marriages.

Photos are also uploaded and there is a local as well as an international church news column. Scripture readings are flagged and users can press a button for “the saint of the day”.
