Gardaí believe the vehicles were broken up at the premises, which fronted as a legitimate business, so they could be sold on.

A total of 20 engines were discovered and gardaí positively identified 10 cars. Some of the models found include BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, and Land Rover. At least one tractor was found.

Most of the cars are believed to have been stolen in the North or northern counties, while one of the vehicles is believed to be worth over €100,000.

The operation was undertaken by gardaí as part of Operation Thor and involved assistance by the Stolen Vehicle Investigation Unit and Criminal Assets Bureau.

Yesterday’s discovery was made on the third day of the operation.

However, as searches have been ongoing throughout that time, details were not made public.

Gardaí are liaising with their counterparts in the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Searches are ongoing and no arrests have been made to date, as the operation is still in its early stage.

In separate searches in Dublin, gardaí in conjunction with Dublin City Council and Revenue Custom Services discovered a large number of stolen vehicle parts in containers at a storage yard in City West.

No value has been put on the parts as of yet but gardaí are confident they have located the component parts of at least five high-end vehicles, along with other vehicle parts yet to be identified.

Gardaí also discovered 200,000 cigarettes and 19 bales of tobacco with an estimated value of €130,000.

Over 100 bottles of champ- agne and a small sum of cash have been also been seized.

Garda and Customs are interviewing a 27-year-old man at Tallaght Garda station.
