A man was arrested in Cork and charged with carrying out a midweek robbery at a filling station in Limerick City.

Detective Garda Dean Landers arrested Limerick man Michael Gammell, aged 31, of no fixed address, and charged him with robbing €150 at Topaz filling station on St Nessan’s Rd, Limerick, on Wednesday evening.

Gammell, who was appearing at Cork District Court, was remanded in custody to appear at Limerick District Court on Tuesday, by Judge Olann Kelleher, on an application made by Inspector Adrian Gamble.

Det Garda Landers said he arrested Gammell, who is originally from Moyross in Limerick, at 10.40pm on Thursday.

The accused made no reply when charged with robbery.
